New Canaan, CT Offered $10MM to Change Name to SugarDaddie.com

NCAdvertiser - A Florida-based online dating site has offered to pay New Canaan nearly $10 million to change the name of the town to SugarDaddie.com, Conn.

Here is what the company is asking New Canaan to do to get the money:

• Make a 10-year commitment to officially change the name of New Canaan, Conn., to SugarDaddie.com, U.S.A.
• All official government correspondence, institutions and street signs would have to be changed to reflect the new name of SugarDaddie.com, U.S.A. This includes renaming Mead Park to SugarDaddie.com Park.
• The New Canaan Town Hall, currently under renovation, would have to be renamed SugarDaddie Town Hall.
• The CEO of SugarDaddie.com ”must receive a key to the city in a formal ceremony presented by local government officials (open to the media and the public).”
• “All city marketing resources must be made to reflect the city’s official new name and must be fully implemented within 6 months,” according to the press release.
• “There must be a Hugh Hefner statue, or somebody else that best represents the Sugar Daddy lifestyle, erected near SugarDaddie City Hall for at least 12 years,” according to the press release.

Finally a great local story for us to cover. The most surprising part about this all is that the offer is only $10MM, like what? You’re talking about one of the richest towns in America and you’re not even offering offering eight figures. That’s a little bullish. But I love the idea. Who wouldn’t want to visit SugarDaddie, USA, and sit by the Hugh Hefner statue in front of SugarDaddie City Hall. I’d give it a year before all the SugarDaddies and SugarBabes across the country started moving here. That would be great. Playboy mansions all over. It would become a national landmark.
